Sometimes you’re just not ready to let go of the trends of seasons past. They fit you perfectly, were super comfortable, and embodied every bit of your own personal style.
We might have to wave goodbye to summer, but don’t sulk away from fall just yet. While it’s not true for all trends, there are a few summer fashions you can continue to wear throughout autumn and beyond.
Still holding on to those fashions of decades past? No problem. Heatworld says that ’90s trends are still hot, and you can confidently keep wearing them for at least the next few months.
However, they do acknowledge that specific looks are better for the colder weather than others. Darker makeup pallets, like nudes and berry tones, are more suited for fall and winter than citrus shades and neons. You can also try layering your ’90s trend pieces to make them weather-appropriate. Rest assured, your velvet slip dress and choker will still look stunningly retro under a black leather or bomber jacket.
Athleisure is still going strong and it’s unlikely that the trend will die out anytime soon. You can keep wearing Gigi Hadid-inspired looks and rock your yoga pants well into 2017. In fact, even though they were a little slower on the trend train, men’s fashion is following a similar path.
Athleisure is the main focus of Lyst’s Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh collection, which is great news for those of us who also like to relax in our guy’s comfy clothes every now and then. New, athletic-inspired pieces like sneakers and hoodies are plentiful for guys, and girls can enjoy relaxed-fit pieces that still showcase some femininity by using tones of pinks and purples.
Bell sleeves are another retro look that returned from the ’70s this summer. And if you’re a fan of these flowing disco-inspired sleeves, you can still sport them long into this season and the next.
The billowy sleeves are a favorite of Brit + Co fashion writer, Lauren Finney. According to Finney, this eccentric sleeve is the perfect addition to any blouse or dress. Go bold with an exaggerated, romantic look, or keep them snmaller and more subtle for a style that’s both feminine and flirty.
Finish things off with a nice pair of jeans and you’re ready for cold weather.
It’s probably time to pack away the flip flops and shorts. But keep these select pieces out of storage this year, and you can happily continue to rock a few summer trends well into winter.
